This course takes a look at preimplantation embryo development, specifically focusing on the blastocyst. It discusses the physiology and morphology of the blastocyst, along with any gene expression that's involved.

At the completion of this course the reader will be able to:

1. Briefly recall preimplantation embryo development.
2. Discuss the physiology of the blastocyst.
3. Recall the morphology of the blastocyst, including the degree of expansion, ICM morphology, and TE morphology.
4. Discuss the gene expression of a human preimplantation embryo and what genes are involved.
