This Basic Level course reviews the different types of biological safety cabinets, general rules of use, and maintenance requirements. |
At the completion of this course the reader will be able to: - Discuss the purpose of Biological Safety Cabinets (BSC).
- Discuss the functionality of HEPA filters.
- Identify the mechanical and biological differences of Class I, Class II, and Class III biosafety cabinets.
- List some of the general rules used to ensure safety when working within a BSC.
- Discuss the maintenance and engineering requirements for the biosafety cabinets.
- Identify the steps necessary to certify the biosafety cabinets.
